The 2014 Vuelta a España starts on the 23rd of August. But what will happen in the Vuelta this year? Here are our thoughts.

The 69th edition of the third and final Grand tour of 2014 starts in Jerez de la Frontera, taking in 3181.5km and eight mountaintop finishes before finishing three weeks later in Santiago de Compostela.

With two individual time trials, one team time trial and a further five hilly or mountainous stages there are only five stages for the spinters.

We are expecting this race to be very hotly contested, and dare we say it, maybe the best race of the year.
