On January 1st 2022 I visited Cleethorpes on the North Lincolnshire coastline to participate in the New Years Day 10k Race. I was hoping that I could beat my personal best time of 45.48 which I achieved at the Gainsborough 10K event at the beginning of November 2021. This time was my fastest time for 10years! I had over-endulged at Christmas time with lots of goodies including Mince Pies & several glasses of wine & beer so I was doubtful that I could go faster than the 45.48. I always tend to start too fast over the first couple of miles in a 10k race so the plan was to start a little slower and then to increase pace as the race evolves. It was exceptionally warm for January 1st with a very pleasant 14 Degrees Centigrade which allowed me to run in my singlet & shorts. I chose to run in my New Balance Fuelcell Rebel V2s which had covered 130 miles. The scene was set so could I run faster than 45.48 - watch the video to find out!
