Alma Cooper, Miss Michigan USA, was crowned Miss USA this week and will compete in Miss Universe. Cooper, a military intelligence officer, and Stanford alum, won over 49 other contestants, including Bailey Anne Kennedy, the first transgender woman to compete in Miss USA. Kennedy, who is a Miss Maryland USA, made history as the first Asian-American and transgender woman to win her state title. In her Instagram post, she expressed hope for LGBTQ youth, emphasizing the importance of representation and inclusion. Maryland and Kennedy did the LGBTQ community proud.
