I demonstrate how to use the Niagara river current to your advantage when fishing for trout. This technique work for jigs as well as spoons. Here, I am casting a bigger sized Cleo spoon and letting it drift across with the current. Most of the time, fish will hit the lure at the tail end of the drift. At this point, the current does all the work, you just sit back and wait for the fish to come! The vibration on the rod is a good way of ensuring that your lure is still swimming correctly and that it has not snagged up.
Please take your time when releasing these spring steelhead as they take much longer to revive in the warmer water than during the winter months.
