Ross County won the Scottish League Cup under the most dramatic of circumstances at the national stadium. A late goal from Alex Schalk proved to be decisive as the Staggies edged out Alan Stubbs’ Hibernian side. County had gone ahead midway through the first half. Michael Gardyne capitalised on a defensive mix up in the Hibs defence to put the Dingwall side one up. Liam Fontaine scored with a fabulous finish on the turn from the edge of the County box to pull his side level just before the break. County sub Brian Graham had a goal ruled out after he was adjudged to have fouled Hibs keeper Mark Oxley. With the game looking destined for extra time, Schalk got on the end of a Fontaine clearance and fired home the winner.
