Thanks to one of our followers on Instagram who made this great tip request.
From our experience here at physical therapy application coach, we have not seen that taking or retaking prereqs at a Community College has had negative consequences on an applicant’s likelihood of acceptance.
In fact this is what we recommend for most applicants if they do need to retake a course due to Community College being much more affordable.
While we have not personally observed negative consequences from pre-PTs taking or retaking prereqs at community college. The only way you can know for sure if a DPT program weights Community College courses differently than those taken at a traditional university is to ask that program directly through their program liaison via phone call or email.
Be smart, save money, and take or retake prereqs at a community college, if you’ve asked your programs of interest if they weight courses taken at a community college differently than university. If they don’t then go for it! If they do then maybe you should consider looking into other programs
