Abernethy Forest Loop
A 30-mile loop through the spectacular Abernethy Forest in the Cairngorms illuminated with stunning autumnal colours.
The loop starts and ends at Glenmore, on the shores of Loch Morlich. It takes in Lochan Uaine, the Ryvoan Pass and then joins the Speyside Way at Nethy Bridge.
Following a moment of peaceful reflection at Loch Mallachie and a whizz past Loch Garten the trail then enters a golden world of light with the trees in their fanciest plumage, just as the sun comes out.
After a stiff climb up and over the an Slugan Pass, the diminishing sunlight casts a magical glow over the Cairngorm Mountains, providing a perfect backdrop for some great drone images.
