What an awesome week it was on the James River out of Richmond, Virginia. I have spent a lot of time on this place so it was awesome to see a lot of the puzzle pieces come together and to pull off a good finish. During practice I found a few really productive areas by covering water with a Topwater pop-r and a buzz bait as those seemed to really produce some bites thats week.

I Threw the Pop-R on a 13 Fishing Defy Black 7' Crank bait rod to absorb the initial bite and would just reel into them. Probably the best small topwater rod I have ever used at a really affordable price point. I paired that rod up with a 13 fishing Concept A 7:3:1 Reel and 40lb Stealth Grey Seaguar Smackdown braid.

Buzzbait setup was very similar. I used a 7'1 Medium Omen paired up with the same reel and line as the Pop-R setup.
