The day before game 3 of the 2004 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals between the New Jersey Nets & the New York Knicks, Tim Thomas, sidelined after receiving a flagrant foul from Jason Collins in the opening contest of the series, called Kenyon Martin "fugazy" & accused him of playing the fake tough guy role.
K-Mart taped a Daily News back page calling Thomas ''Whiny Tim'' to his chest at the game-day morning shootaround & fired back at him:
"I just saw the page and thought it was appropriate,"
"It's hilarious. I feel privileged he's spending time thinking about me. The question to me is how I'm not a tough guy. You take a poll around the league, I'm pretty sure if you ask people who they want on their team, they're not going to say Tim Thomas. My teammates have never questioned how hard I play and in Milwaukee they questioned him. People know what they're going to get out of me every time I step on the floor, I'm not like Pandora's Box. Like if you open it up you don't know what you're going to get, that's him. Like somebody said, he's a career underachiever. He ain't done nothing in his career. I've been to the Finals twice. We came up a little short, but I've won games. Everywhere he's gone, he's been questioned. I mean he should be worrying about his home fans more than he should be worrying about me. I haven't gotten booed yet, either. They booed him when he first got to New York. So he should be worried about his home fans first before worrying about Kenyon."
"He's talking about calling Don King, Lock me and him in a room together and see who's going to come out."
