A fantastic relay,with the USA (2.56.47) just taking it from Great Britain(2.56.65) and Jamaica(2.56.75 (NR)).Sadly,after Antonio Pettigrew was disqualified as a drug cheat,the USA was stripped of the title,the gold and silver being handed to GB and Jamaica respectively,with the Polish team,originally fourth ,(3.00.26)upgraded to bronze.Pity....it was a bloody good race!The USA had an unwanted record in the World Championships,as they also won this title for the following three meets('99,'01 and '03)and were stripped of the lot.Hopefully a thing of the past...
