How did I train for a 200-mile ultramarathon?
Maybe you are just getting started on your ultramarathon, marathon, or running journey
It could be that you are a runner
Or maybe you don’t know where to start.
Maybe you’ve run a couple ultramarathons and want to step it up to another distance - like a one-hundred miler or even - a two-hundred miler.
Use these tools throughout your journey and see where they take you.
With enough training, maybe even years of training - I believe most people can go the 200-mile distance because we know deep down that we can achieve a lot more then we think we can.
TL; DR
The story behind the Buckeye 200 - coach Pete asked
Physically how I trained - 7 days a week, about 3 hours per day. Using the four pillars of fitness.
Deep dive into the miles - averaged about 80 miles per week
What I would do differently - strength train with compound movements and running specific exercises, most likely ending these at the end of strength workouts
Mentally How I trained - power list, mantra, writing goal, visualizing, writing a plan
How the race went - finished in about 99 hours, 18th out of 40 starters
