In place of our regularly scheduled Waza Wednesday video, this week we have a special presentation of techniques found in the Bubishi!

The Bubishi, written/translated by Patrick McCarthy, Hanshi, is a wealth of traditional martial knowledge for modern day karateka. In this video, Richard Poage and Noah Legel of Peaceful Warrior Martial Arts & Healing Center present several interpretations of fighting techniques found in this classic manual of fighting, including examples from other fighting arts, such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, judo, sumo, MMA, Muay Thai, and modern police tactics. McCarthy Sensei has kindly recorded a brief introduction for us to include in this video, as well, despite traveling through Europe teaching seminars.

Waza Wednesday--the day Sensei Richard Poage shares a karate or kobudo technique with the world. Sensei Poage is a Shorin-Ryu Shorinkan practitioner under Sensei Eddie Bethea, and specializes in kata bunkai (analysis). He teaches at Peaceful Warrior Martial Arts & Healing Center in Scottsdale, AZ, and is available to book for seminars.
