One of the best things about March; snowboard companies releasing their new models and boards for next season. Lucky for me got a hook-up on some of Burton's newest arrivals: Free Thinker, Straight Chuter and new board in the Family Tree line up for 2023: the Territory Manager.

Here in Whistler after making us wait for an exorbitant amount of time, Mother Nature blessed us with some fluffy white stuff. After a couple days trying out the new Free Thinker, time to switch it up to something more suited for these conditions. With 8mm taper and directional shape it floats easily through the powder, and even when the snow gets heavy it has the power and response to turn it into butter. In fact, I thought it had a near perfect balance of being able to charge through snow without getting knocked around because the board is just too stiff

The directional camber made a huge difference in the trees compared to the full camber on the Free Thinker, much easier to pivot the board in the trees and thread the needle.

Riding and landing switch in powder wasn't an issue, and with the taper only 8mm compare to much larger taper on some other boards it's more natural landing and riding away whatever direction your facing.

Still get great pop with the camber underfoot and easy to land to with the rockered out nose; landings were very easy and intuitive.

Overall super impressed with this board. Didn't have much of opinion before the day started, but it's become one of my favorite do-it-all snowboards for Whistler. Perfect for shredding the powder in the morning, then spending the afternoon hitting side hits, going in the park, or building a booter in the backcountry.

So if you are looking for a board to do everything, with a more powder/ freestyle focus definitely check out the new 2023 Burton Territory Manager. (Other new boards in the Family Tree for new year: Forager and First Cut.
